How Social Media is Impacting Women & Girls (Hybrid event)

How Social Media is Impacting Women & Girls (Hybrid event) In-Person / Online

Join us for a conversation between Dr. Francesca Degiuli, FDU Associate Professor of Sociology, and Dr. Kara Alaimo, FDU Associate Professor of Communication, about Dr. Alaimo’s new book “Over the Influence: Why Social Media is Toxic for Women and Girls – And How We Can Take It Back." This conversation will look at how social media is affecting every aspect of the lives of women, girls and nonbinary people – from our relationships and our careers to our physical and mental well-being, as well as what users, lawmakers and tech companies can do to solve these problems.

Discussion followed by book signing. Sponsored by the FDU Department of Social Sciences and History, the FDU Department of Communication, and the FDU Library.
